Kanye West Wears “White Lives Matter” Outfit to Fashion Show, Then Explains Himself on Fox News

Kanye West is no stranger to controversy. The iconic rapper and fashion designer has been making headlines for his outspokenness and provocative behavior for years. But his latest stunt has even some of his most loyal fans scratching their heads.

On September 7, West debuted his new Yeezy fashion line at Paris Fashion Week. He closed the show by taking a dramatic walk down the runway wearing a face mask and a hoodie emblazoned with the words “White Lives Matter.” Just days later, he appeared on Fox News to explain himself.

Some people were quick to call West out for his insensitivity. After all, the Black Lives Matter movement was created in response to the frequent police brutality and systemic racism that black Americans face. (wasn’t it?) For many, it seems tone-deaf at best and downright offensive at worst for a wealthy black man to proclaim that “white lives matter” while black people are still fighting for equality.

Others have come to West’s defense, saying that he was simply trying to start a conversation about race in America. He was trying to start a conversation about media manipulation. And it’s true that West has never been one to shy away from difficult topics. In fact, he has consistently used his platform to speak out about race relations, police brutality, and other social issues.

During his Fox News interview, West doubled down on his belief that corporations are manipulating the masses by pitting different groups against each other. He argued that companies are hiring BLM managers and using Obama as a figurehead to make people feel like they’re making progress when really they’re not. What’s a “BLM Manager”? It sounds like it’s a figurehead corporations use to influence the masses.

West said that he doesn’t want to be involved in this manipulation, and that’s why he’s being dragged into the dirt by people who don’t understand him. This is what he wanted out of his Gap deal. He went on to say that he believes we need to come together as a country and start having more honest conversations about race.

Whatever your opinion of Kanye West may be, it’s undeniable that he knows how to get people talking. Love him or hate him, there’s no denying that he’s one of the most controversial and polarizing figures in the public eye today. What do you think about his latest antics? Do you believe he was simply trying to start a dialogue about race, or was his “White Lives Matter” outfit tone-deaf and offensive? Regardless his interview was thought-provoking.
