“I don’t give a s*** about feelings,” the Star Wars store owner said after a confrontation with an anti-transgender councilwoman.
Councilwoman Tiesa Meskis, who identifies as female but is biologically male, confronted Don Sucher over his offending sign on Wednesday. The two had been at odds since Ms. Meskis’ election in November when she began protesting Mr. Sucher’s shop for its “offensive and anti-trans” signage that suggested you couldn’t be both homosexual and Christian because homosexuality was condemned in Leviticus 20:13 – which has long ago been debunked by scholars of Biblical criticism such as Dr John Boswell from Yale University’s Divinity School or Professor Daniel Boyarin from Berkeley.
The argument spilled onto the streets as seen yelling at one another. Meskis said “Trans women are women” in a video posted online while Sucher responded, “You’re nuts.” After their confrontation with no clear winner, they both went on to say what happened and why it did or didn’t matter to them personally.
“I don’t care what they do,” Sucher told KING 5 following the altercation which lasted about five minutes long. He also added that he’s entitled his free speech rights when talking publicly of trans people who complain for things like using bathrooms without harassment-free access across America for everyone (especially those who identify themselves by either gender).
Conclusion paragraph: In the Star Wars shop owner’s eyes, it doesn’t matter. Councilwoman Tiesa Meskis is a biological male who identifies as a woman and confronted Don Sucher over a sign in his store that she said was offensive and anti-trans on Wednesday. “It’s very hurtful to me when somebody says I am not female because of my genitalia,” he told Fox 12 news reporter Kelsey Watts. “I don’t give one s*** about what you think.” Although this may seem like an extreme response, we can understand where he is coming from. The world today seems to be obsessed with feelings—everyone has them and wants everyone else to have them too whether they are deserving or not.
