Is this a homeless woman?
Who is John Legere? He is not a woke trans man and he is not a homeless person. He is actually the former T-Mobile CEO.
John Legere took to Twitter to plead with billionaire Elon Musk to let him take over as the company’s new CEO. In his tweet, Legere said that Musk could “stop managing daily business, and ‘content moderation’ and then support product/technology, let someone else ‘run’ @Twitter.”
While it’s unclear if Legere is serious about wanting to become Twitter’s new CEO, his tweet raises an interesting question: why would he want to take on such a difficult job? After all, running a major social media platform is no easy feat. Here are three possible reasons why John Legere might be interested in becoming Twitter’s next CEO.
- He misses the spotlight.
As the CEO of T-Mobile, John Legere was one of the most high-profile executives in the telecommunications industry. He was known for his outrageous antics and colorful language, and he frequently made headlines for his feuds with other CEOs, like AT&T’s Randall Stephenson. Since leaving T-Mobile in 2019, Legere has largely stayed out of the spotlight. Taking on the job of Twitter CEO would certainly help him get back in the public eye. - He wants a challenge.
Legere is no stranger to difficult challenges. When he became T-Mobile’s CEO in 2012, the company was struggling to compete against its much larger rivals, AT&T and Verizon. But under Legere’s leadership, T-Mobile turned things around and became one of the most innovative and disruptive companies in the telecom industry. Taking on the job of fixing Twitter—which has been plagued by spam accounts, trolls, and misuse—would definitely be a challenge, but it’s one that Legere might be up for. - He thinks he can do a better job than Musk.
In his tweet, Legere implied that he could do a better job than Musk at running Twitter. It’s possible that he truly believes this—after all, he did turn T-Mobile around when it was struggling—and wants to put his skills to use at another company. Only time will tell if Legere is serious about becoming Twitter’s next CEO, but if he is, he’ll certainly have his work cut out for him.
