President Joe Biden took a tumble off his bike while riding in Delaware. Thankfully, he wasn’t seriously injured in the fall. This isn’t the first time Joe Biden has fallen while on the job. This is the first time we have seen him fall on his bike.
In the past, most notably, he fell down airline stairs. But this fall seems symbolic for the state of our country. Biden fell off his bike while standing still over the bike for no reason. Our country is also at a standstill and has fallen.
So should we blame the bike?
This seems symbolic because the Biden administration tends to point to blame rather than fixing problems. This leadership style has some people wondering if maybe it’s time to ban bikes.
After all, bikes can be dangerous. They require balance and coordination, and even experienced riders can sometimes take a spill. In addition, bikes can be a hazard to pedestrians, especially if they’re ridden carelessly. (or by a man with dementia) And, of course, there’s always the risk of being hit by a car when you’re riding a bike on the road.
So should we get rid of bikes? Or is the risk worth it? That’s debatable. But one thing’s for sure: Joe Biden’s fall is a reminder that biking isn’t always as safe as it seems.
Recently, President Biden has called for stricter gun laws, and the Senate has begun to debate a number of potential bills. While it remains to be seen what sorts of laws will ultimately be passed, it is clear that the president is committed to making some changes. In addition to calling for tougher gun laws, we may suggest that Bike Control might be a good idea. This would require all bicycles to be registered and would make it illegal to sell unregistered bikes. We can also do background checks on who rides bikes. While this might seem like a bit of a reach, it is clear that the president is serious about tackling important issues.
Bikes don’t hurt people; people on bikes hurt themselves or others.
